Highlights
- •During Covid-19 epidemics Emergency Department (ED) presentations decreased.
- •This reduction was similar in different areas irrespective of Covid-19 prevalence.
- •Population mortality increased only in high Covid-19 prevalence zones.
- •This suggests that the reduction in ED presentations does not influence mortality.
- •Our results question the appropriateness of ED access.
